LaVerne Dinch, 90, of Avella, went to be with her Lord Friday, June 16, 2023, in her home, with family by her side.

She was born December 1, 1932, in Avella, a daughter of the late Lyle and Harriet Dillie.

She married Lloyd Dinch September 1, 1948. Lloyd passed away in January of 2002.

LaVerne lived on their farm near Avella for 75 years, raising dairy and later beef cattle, working hard as a farmer’s wife.

She enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables and flowers. She will be remembered for her love of baking, especially cookies. There was love in every bite.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda (Tom) Anestis of Houston; four grandchildren, Susan and Ron Anestis, and John and James Oblak; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kate and Nathan Anestis; a son-in-law, John Oblak; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Connie Oblak; a brother, Donald Dillie; and a sister, Betty Rizor.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Douglas M. Jones, supervisor, Dr. Lawrence K. Donovan, director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, with John Oblak officiating. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
