Bernard E. Zupancich
Bernard E. Zupancich, 83, of Morgantown, W.Va., formerly of Carmichaels and Crucible, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 24, 2023, at home.
He was born August 1, 1939, in Rices Landing, a son of the late Louis and Casilda “Kate” Palone Zupancich.
Bernie was a 1957 graduate of Cumberland Township High School, where he played tuba in the school band.
He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Bernie retired from PNC Bank where he held the position of vice-president of finance for 30 plus years. Upon retirement he took over the running of Larry’s Music Store in Carmichaels.
He was a well-known musician, who played in several bands, including his first band, Ronnie and the Savoy’s, with his brother Ronnie. And then with the band, Horizon in which he played with his brother, Larry.
Surviving is a brother, Ronald J. Zupancich Sr. of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; a sister, Judith Rosa of Perryopolis; a good friend, Deborah Ross of Morgantown, W.Va.; nephews: Ronald J. Zupancich Jr., Mark Zupancich, Alex James Rosa Jr., Joseph Rosa, and Louis Rosa; nieces, Debbie Baluch and Tricia Ciliberti; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Deceased is are his brothers, Larry Zupancich and infant brother, Louis Jr.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, with Pastor RJ Zupancich Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Military Rites will be accorded by the Greene County Honor Guard.
