Morgan Yoney

Morgan Yoney, 29 of Waynesburg, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a lifelong battle against Cystic Fibrosis.

Morgan lived her life to the fullest any day she could. Her lighthearted energy filled everyone with laughter. She started the annual Morgan’s Army blanket drive in 2015. Since then, thousands of blankets have been donated to hospitals and organizations in the local area each holiday season. Throughout her journey, she made connections worldwide to educate people on the importance of Organ Donation.

Morgan was blessed with 13 more years through the selfless gift from Casey Moore and an anonymous donor for her second lung transplant. She found passion is helping and encouraging other friends with Cystic Fibrosis who are making the same journey. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with family, friends and her beloved dogs, Charlie, Quinn, and Raya. She also enjoyed watching after and caring for others pets when she was able.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Tammy Yoney; her sister, Megan (Matthew) Dickerson; nieces that she adored, Jillian and Clara; the love of her life, Andy Franko; paternal grandparents, Russell and Dianna Yoney; her aunts, Rose Sroka, Sue (Tom) Fowler, Candy (Dirk) Oxenrider, Tonya Yoney and uncle John (Minnie) Moon Jr. , several cousins and a large extended family.

Preceding her in death are a sister that was born sleeping, her maternal grandparents John and Viola Moon and cousin Justin Hanzely.

Friends and family will be welcomed from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday July 1, 2023, for a Celebration of Life and viewing at the Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle with a service to follow at 7 p.m. with Kevin Willis officiating. The family requests that anyone attending to wear something bright to match her spirit. For those unable to attend, it will be streamed on Morgan’s Army Facebook page. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made directly to the family. To honor Morgan’s wishes the family will start the process of converting Morgan’s Army into a nonprofit to continue her legacy.

The family wants to send a heartfelt Thank You to the UPMC Presbyterian staff, nurses and doctors and the CORE Organization for their support and caring for Morgan.
