Edith DiYenno
Edith DiYenno, 102, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 27, 2023, in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
She was born May 18, 1920, in Castel di LamaVilla Santo Antonio, Provenzia di Arcoli Piceno, Italy a daughter of the late Oreste and Francesca Tavoletti Vannicola.
Mrs. DiYenno came to this country in March of 1935, and lived most of her life in Canonsburg where she was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church. She was a charter member of the Christian Mothers and Guild. Edith had been employed at the former RCA plants as an assembler in both Canonsburg and Meadowlands and was a loving home maker, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed games shows, playing cards and word search puzzles. Edith was a very talented seamstress who like to crochet and do ceramics.
Her late husband was Flory DiYenno who she married in 1939, passed away February 16, 1988, after nearly 50 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved children, her son, Joseph Flory DiYenno of Canonsburg, and her daughter Mary DiYenno Holland of Woodbridge, Va., three loving grandchildren, Beth DiYenno (Ian) Hart, Shaun Thomas (Sara) Dull and Chelsey Dull; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. DiYenno was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are her three brothers, Gino, Vinicio and Vince Vannicola.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023.
