John F. Ganster Jr.
John F. Ganster Jr., 70, of Washington, died suddenly in Sheffield, at the place he loved to be, his camp.
He was born January 1, 1953, in Pittsburgh, son of the late John F. and Alberta Wetzel Ganster, Sr.
On July 23, 2011, he married Sally M. McConnell Ganster in Washington. Sally survives.
John retired from Consol Coal, working as a Coal Miner Mechanic, at the Baily Mine in Crabapple, near West Finley.
He had a passion for vintage automobiles. He restored a 1957 Chevy and was working on a 1956 Ford Truck. John owned several of these kinds of vehicles over the years.
His second passion was his camp in the northern portion of Forest County. He loved his camp in the woods next to Tionesta Creek, loved the area and every minute he spent there.
His most significant passion was the love he had for his wife, Sally, his brother and sisters, and his children… and spending time with all of them. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons, Eric Ganster and his wife, Amber, of Claysville, Joseph Ganster of Santa Clara, California; Travis Ellwood and his wife, Samantha, of Pittsburgh and Jared Ellwood of Washington, and his fiancee, Danielle Pritts. One daughter, Keri Ganster, also of Washington, and her fiance Chad Wilson. The following eight grandchildren survive: Maddix, Aydin, Jason, Julian, Stuart, Alivia, Parker and Conner. There are three step-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Devon and Alexa. One brother, James R. Ganster and his wife, Ivy, of Irwin; two sisters, Patricia Ganster of Panama; Barbara Ganster of Frederick, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
All services held will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
