Gerald Lee Vitteck
It is with great sadness that Leann announces the passing of her husband, true love and soul mate, Jerry.
Jerry was born March 31, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late George W. Vitteck, Sr. and Goldie Barker Vitteck.
Jerry graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, class of 1956.
He served with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Company H, as well as the U.S. Navy in aviation.
He was a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. and a retired as a homicide detective from the Prince George’s County Police Department, Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Jerry was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 89, a Commander in the Veterans of Foreign Wars #927, the American Legion #639, Claysville, the Moose Lodge #22 and Moose Legion, and the Slovak Club.
On December 19, 2003, Jerry married Leann Horne, who survives. He also leaves behind his best friend and companion, Maxwell Lee.
Also surviving are his daughter, Michaele “Mike” Vinosky and his son, Gerald L. Vitteck, Jr., both of Washington; two brothers, George W. Vitteck, Jr., of Washington and Gary R. (Peg) Vitteck, of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the hour of services, on Friday, in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Robert Grewe officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
