Romaine Denise Booher
Romaine Denise Booher, 75, of Cecil, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2023, following a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Born April 23, 1947, in El Paso, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Richard C. Ruecroft and Romaine Mansfield Veltre of Washington.
She graduated from Washington High in 1965 and earned degrees from Pitt and Duquesne universities.
Denise worked as director of religious education for several parishes within the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh including St. Mary’s, Cecil; St. Francis of Assisi, Finleyville; Good Samaritan, Ambridge; and Our Lady of Peace, Conway.
She is survived by Ray, her husband of 50 years; sons, David of Canonsburg, and Dustin (Lara) of Fairfax, Va. The joys of her life were her five beloved granddaughters, Ella, Samantha, Andrea, Emily and Avery.
She was an avid bibliophile, heavily involved in book discussion groups at Peters Township Library, and was a fan of movies, musical theater, Dr. Who and other British television.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, in St. Mary’s Church in Cecil, followed by burial in Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Hickory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in her name, to the Peters Township Public Library or a charity of one’s choice.
