Gerald Amistade, 72, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, in Washington.

He was born on February 28, 1951. His parents, Irwin “Star” Amistade and Rose Cimino Amistade, preceded him in death.

Gerry graduated from Trinity High School in 1970. He spent many years working at Ball Glass, but retired as a custodian from Trinity School District.

Gerry’s passions included Pittsburgh sports teams, traveling to cities across the country and making sure his vehicle was showroom quality clean. He spent some of his happiest moments in his garage making sure that he cleaned as many cars as his family would provide. He would work tirelessly and was happy to teach the next generation about his favorite new product to get those wheels to shine.

Gerry had an amazing talent to build lifelong friendships and to make each of his family members feel special. He was content to be the quiet one but inevitably, added laughter to all holidays and family vacations. He enjoyed hosting parties where he would share his mother’s chili, meatball and sauce recipes with all. He will be dearly missed.

Gerry is survived by his sister, Sharen; and brother, David (Lisa). He has one nephew and five nieces. During each of their college years, he happily moved them in and out of their dorms with a smile and the promise of a cold beer at the end. And he proudly watched as the family continued to grow with his nine great-nephews and nieces. He kept a running list of their names to be sure he would remember each

In lieu of flowers, please gather with your family and friends and toast Gerry. He was a man well-loved but gone too soon.
