Ralph Buckingham
Ralph Buckingham, 93, of Scenery Hill, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born March 11, 1930, in Scenery Hill, a son of the late Samuel and Olive Orndoff Buckingham.
Ralph was a 1948 graduate of Ellsworth High School.
Mr. Buckingham was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1951 to 1953.
He was a lifelong farmer, and had also been previously employed as a school bus driver and as an underground miner in both Mine #51 and #60.
Ralph was a member of the Scenery Hill United Methodist Church, the Centerville American Legion and the Washington Elks Club.
He enjoyed camping when he was younger, but farming has been his lifelong passion.
On November 16, 1957, he married Martha Hill Buckingham, who survives. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two children, Carol Craig (Paul) of Halifax and Eric Buckingham (Vickie) of Richeyville; four grandchildren, Lydia Craig, Anna Maissen, Kevin Kunkle and Bryan Kunkle; six great-grandchildren, Iris and Hayden Maissen, Zac, Declan, Harper and Hannah Kunkle, and one on the way; two brothers, John and Ronald Buckingham; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, James, Paul and Earl Buckingham; and two sisters, Helen Hawn and Betty Wightman.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., time of service, on Friday, March 31, 2023, in the Scenery Hill United Methodist Church, 2230 East National Pike, Scenery Hill, with Pastor Kathy Higgins officiating. Interment will be private in Scenery Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Scenery Hill United Methodist Church or Concordia Hospice Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
