Thomas Anthony Longo Jr.
Thomas Anthony Longo Jr., 68, of Lone Oak, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in his home. Mr. Longo was born into the Catholic faith May 20, 1954, to Thomas Anthony Longo, Sr., and Laverne Hinkofer Longo.
Tom spent his earliest years with his family living in Pittsburgh. Following his family’s move to McMurray, he went on to enjoy his school-age years in Peters Township.
After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Navy Airman, specializing in electronics and radar systems, and was assigned to the USS Ranger aircraft carrier. He participated in two tours of duty in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1976.
Afterward, he briefly held jobs in the mining industry in Denver, Colo., before migrating to Dallas, Texas, in 1980, to work for E-Systems, Inc., where he was able to make the most of his electronics and radar expertise.
It was in Dallas where he met his wife of 25 years, Allyson, whom he married on the 4th of July, 1997. The pair lead a rich life together, both personally and professionally, and thoroughly enjoyed one another’s company throughout their time together.
In 2010, after 30+ years with the company, Tom retired and spent the next several years tending to the pair’s 46-acre estate in rural Hunt County, Texas.
Allyson joined him in retirement in 2020, with the pair looking forward to spending their golden years together, doing all the things they loved to do. But sadly, fate intervened, and the golden years they waited so long for would have to wait, until they meet again…
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife, Allyson; his sisters, Rosemary Mary of Quinton, Va., Sue Ann Papesch of Erie, Nancy Longo of Pittsburgh, and Judy Waclawski of Pittsburgh; as well as many other beloved friends and family members.
A Mass for Tom will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 20, in Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in South Side, Pittsburgh.
