Edwin R. “Ray” Taucher, 91, of Burgettstown, died Monday, May 8, 2023. He was born June 26, 1931, a son of Frank and Margaret O’Hara Taucher.

Prior to retirement, Ray was employed as an electrician for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Follansbee, W.Va.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Burgettstown, the American Legion, and the Burgettstown Italian Club.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.

Ray enjoyed hunting at his camp, “Iron City Camp” in Clearfield, where his friends, Rick, Stanley, Big Bill, Snookie, Gizmo, Larry, Tommy and Freddie often accompanied him. They were all instrumental in its construction. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and the new Maulers fan, cheering them on while wearing each appropriate hat.

Surviving are his wife, Gale Lawson Taucher; son, David Taucher; daughter, Lynn S. Taucher; grandson, Jesse Taucher; and brother, Gene Taucher. Also surviving are Rick Bernola, who was like a son to him; and brother-in-law, Lynn Lawson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24. More information will follow at a later date.
