Edsel S. Bryner

Edsel S. Bryner passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Hawthorne Woods on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
He was born in Connellsville, PA and moved to Washington as a young child, son of the late Roy C. and Celia Clark Bryner.
He graduated from Washington High School after having served in the U.S. Merchant Marines where he sailed on 3 ships: The S.S. John Ericson, The S.S. Oliver Loving and the S.S. Wheeler Hills.
He was happily married to Marie Stewart Bryner for over 66 years. Together they raised three daughters, Cheryl (Jim) MCMillen of Houston, Debbie Andy of Longboat Key, Fla. and Becky (Tim) Phinney of Sarasota, Fla.
He was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Washington, having been a member there for 84 years. He held various positions in the church, such as Sunday School teacher, usher and Deacon. He served his community by delivering Meals on Wheels for several years and with Faith in Action assisting locally those in need. He also was a volunteer contributor in the Mr. OS program through the University of Pittsburgh for many years. He was a member and Past Master of Sunset Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons and a 32nd degree member Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was a Charter Member of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Southwestern PA Chapter #53 and served as secretary. He retired as Area Superintendent for the Columbia Gas Transmission Coap. after working there for 42 years.
In addition to his daughters, he is also survived by four grandchildren, Angela Andy, Kelley, Jason Andy, J.D. McMillen and Mike McMillen; nine great- grandchildren Morgan Kelley, Sabrina McMillen Longley, Maverick Kelley, Anthony Andy, Lillian McMillen, Arabella Andy, Lindsay McMillen, Freya McMillen and Ilah McMillen.
In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by a sister, Nurella Vankirk; brother, Kenneth; sister-in-law, Ilah; son-in-law, Frank Andy Jr.; and great-granddaughter Audia Andy.
There will be no services or viewing since he proudly donated his body to science through the University of Pittsburgh.
