Lawrence J. “Larry” Satifka, 92, of Washington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in California, a son of the late John and Josephine Sadler Satifka.

Larry had been employed in finance during his career, being employed with Pittsburgh National Bank, the Meadows Racetrack, Allied Chemical/Welland, and prior to his retirement in 2007, he served as treasurer of Newell Federal Credit Union for 15 years.

He lived in Washington the past 17 years before moving from California and was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg.

Larry had been a member of the Lions Club and the PNA, was an avid Penguins and Steelers fan, who enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He liked having pets over the years and leaves behind his dog, Charlie.

On June 28, 1973, he married Sylvia Fartro McCabe, who survives after nearly 50 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Kathy Forbes of Apple Valley, Calif., James (Miriam) Satifka of Derby, Conn., Patrick Satifka of Coal Center, Alison (Brett) Vonsik of Orlando, Fla., Andrea (John) Sweeney and Ronnie (Jennifer) McCabe, both of McMurray, Sylvia Cavallo of Whitehall, and Kristin (Shawn) Culp of Bridgeville; 20 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Vera Bissell Satifka, who passed away in 1970; his son Lawrence M. Satifka, who passed away in 2020; and his brothers, Thomas and John Satifka. Lawrence was the last of his immediate family.

Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 26, in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, May 27. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, with interment to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
