Robert Douglas “Doug” White, 62, of Washington, died unexpectedly Monday, May 29, 2023, in Washington Hospital.

He was born August 25, 1960, in Washington, a son of the late Robert R. and Virginia Crowe White.

Doug was a 1978 graduate of Trinity High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force.

After his service he was employed by and devoted a great deal of his time with Washington-Penn Plastics, from where he retired in 2020.

His first love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed farming, Penn State football and he was a devoted follower of local youth sports.

He was a member of the American Legion, Hunt-Kennedy Post 639 in Claysville, where he proudly served on the Honor Guard.

On May 10, 1980, in Prosperity, he married Jodi A. Group, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robbie White of Washington; a daughter, Lissa (Michael) Wise of Spring Mills; two brothers, Jeffrey L. (Luane) White of Claysville, and Joseph E. (Jennifer) White of Garden City, Mo.; four sisters, Jeannie (Jeff) Harrington of Missouri, and Judy Campbell (Gary) Livingood, Jacqueline (Pat) Jones and Dwana Jo (Mark) Mankey, all of Washington; along with four grandchildren, Dannika and Kailee White, and Landon and Callen Wise; several nieces and nephews; and Jodi’s family, with whom he was so close: sister-in-law, Dona Malesic and brothers-in-law, Carl, Fritz and Eric Group and all their families.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 1, in the Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, with the Reverend Eric Toohey officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery, with full military honors afforded by the Claysville American Legion, Hunt-Kennedy Post 639.
