Shane Allen Phillips, 65, of Sycamore, was pronounced deceased on Sunday, May 28, 2023, after being reported missing on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Born January 10, 1958, in Waynesburg, son of the late Carter and Burnita Estel Phillips.

Shane graduated from West Greene High School, Penn State University, and Waynesburg College.

After graduating from Penn State University, he joined the Peace Corps.

Shane married Linette Welling on August 17, 1985, and they spent over 37 years walking through life as partners.

Shane worked as a teacher, bus driver and a lifelong farmer. He assisted his daughters with 4-H programs for 19 years and coached basketball for several years while his daughter played.

Shane enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and was a former marathon runner. He was an attentive and doting grandfather who cherished every moment that he spent with them.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Rachel Hoffman and Rebecca Phillips; grandchildren, Connor and Caitlyn Hoffman; brother, Shelby (Annette) Phillips; sisters, Misty (O.R.) Hohing and Tonia (Scott) Beaver; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Kathleen Johnson Phillips.

The family would like to acknowledge the help from Murrysville Medic One, North Huntington EMS, Lower Kiski EMS, Elizabeth Boro Aquatic Side Sonar Team, Greensburg Dive Team, the Coroner’s Office, all local volunteer departments and their personnel, canine teams, game wardens, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the District Attorney’s Office, Southwestern PA Water Authority, the Salvation Army, Greene County Commissioners, members of the news media and anyone else who reached out or assisted in any way during their difficult time.

They would also like to recognize the Pennsylvania State Police in their recovery of his body.
