Merle “Butch” Moody, 79, of the Malden area, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, in the Emergency Room at Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. Merle was born April 19, 1944, a son of the late John Merle and Ella Louise Bakewell Moody.

Butch was a 1962 graduate of Brownsville Area High School. He worked construction with Local #286 and #373 until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with friends. He was a member of The A.C. Club and the California Gun Club.

Merle is survived by his wife, Patricia Kapel Moody; two daughters, Jaime Richardson (Jimmy) of Greenville, S.C., and Barbie Griffin (Tim) of Acworth, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jenna Gross (Danny) of Chapin, S.C., Timothy Griffin and Eric Griffin, both of Acworth; a great- granddaughter, Evelyn Gross of Chapin; as well as his sister, Carol Jean Ifraiwan.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, the hour of a service, Friday, November 3, in the Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, PA 15417, with Pastor Edward Truitt officiating. Interment to follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
