On Thursday, October 26, 2023, Phyllis Dale Doria peacefully left this world to be reunited with her parents, her husband, Earl Joseph Doria, and her daughter, Amy Sue Doria.

Phyllis was born September 7, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of Clarence “C.O.” Oliver and Hilda Ashbaugh.

She spent her entire life in Washington and had many jobs over the years. She worked as a switchboard operator at National Annealing Box and at Rosalia Foundling Home, among others. Her last employer was The Washington Hospital, where she worked for many years.

She volunteered her time at the Brownson House, where she touched the lives of many children. She was also an active member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church, where for many years she sang as a tenor in the choir, performed as an organist and led the children’s choir and bell choir. She was the organist for William G. Neal Funeral Homes until her health would no longer permit.

In December of 1964, she married Earl Doria and inherited his three children, Robert Earl Doria (deceased), Judith Lorraine Doria (James Wheeler), and Mary Ellen Doria (Carl Grebner). Phyllis and Earl had two daughters, Amy Sue Doria (deceased), and Julie Ann Doria (Mark Helbling). Their many grandchildren include Robert Doria, Liz Doria Powers, Karen Doria, Rob Wheeler, Beth Wheeler Kendall, Cynthia Wheeler Greenwood, Michael Stock, Kristin Ann Stock (deceased), Abby Neal (Nick Sell), and Sam, Charlie and Josie Helbling; great- grandchildren, Taylor Wheeler Klepsic, Chris, John and Mary Powers, Emily and Jimmy Morgan, and Reagan, Nina and Cecelia Sell.

Phyllis was known for her kindness and wit, her strength in the face of challenge, her unwavering willingness to help others, and her winning smile. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
