Renee M. Batten

Renee M. Herman Batten, 81, of Monongahela passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Renee was born on August 7, 1942 in Brussels, Belgium, a daughter of the late Adolf and Cilly Feiler Herman.

At the age of eight with her family, they moved to the United States. After her graduation in 1960 from Monongahela High School, she earned her Associates Degree from Point Park College in Pittsburgh. She had worked for many years as a medical records transcriptionist for the Canonsburg Hospital until her retirement.

Renee cherished her time with family & friends, she loved traveling and tending to her beautiful flowers.

She was a member of the congregation and sisterhood at Temple Beth Am in Monessen along with the Monongahela Junior Womans Club.

She is survived by her husband Marvin Batten who she married June 14, 1964; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tami Batten of Flemington, NJ; a daughter, Heather Batten (Paul Adair) of Canonsburg; a brother, George “JoJo” and wife Kathy Herman of Monongahela; and three grandchildren, Ryan Cook Jr. and Devan and Rylee Batten; a nephew, Jeffrey Herman; and her grand dogs Kobe and Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her nephew Jason Herman.

Friends will be received from 10 to Noon, on Monday, November 6, in the Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767 the time of service with Rabbi Sara Perman officiating. Interment will be held in Temple Beth Am Cemetery (Kneseth Israel Congregation Cemetery), Monessen.
