Leaving a legacy of love, Theodore J. “Ted” Sikora, 103, of Washington, completed his journey to heaven on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Donnell House surrounded by his family.

Ted was born on Goat Hill, in Washington, on March 5, 1920, to the late Paul and Julia Babiarz Sikora. After graduating from Trinity High School in 1938, Ted joined the CCC serving in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Las Cruces, New Mexico.

After graduating from machinist school in Philadelphia, he began his career at Edward G. Budd, interrupting it to serve as an airplane mechanic in the Army from 1943 to 1946, in the European Theater after World War II broke out. He finished his working career at McGraw Edison as a tool and die machinist, retiring after 36 years.

Ted married Mildred Crupe on January 25, 1947. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2007. They raised three children: Thomas (Marilyn) Sikora of Washington, Darlene (Fred) Pajak of Eighty Four and Crystal Shiller (deceased).

He had 10 grandchildren: Paul (deceased) (Michelle) Sikora of Washington, Amy (Fred) Ward of Washington, Maggie (Ben) Frey of Mt. Lebanon, Dr. Kylie (Kevin) Murray of Mt. Joy, Jacob Sikora of Pittsburgh, Chelsea (Rudy) Vaughn of Clayton, N.C., Alia (MSG. Dan) Vollstedt of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jimmy Sarasnick (Tasha) of Tennessee, Julia (Cameron) Marburger of Corapolis and Michael (Amber Santek) of Marianna; and 19 great-grandchildren: Nicole (Anthony) Unijewski, Liam, Collin and Claire Frey, Kayelyn, Kollette and Kendrick Murray, Lilliana, Rudy and Viviana Vaughn, Ania and Ferdi Vollstedt, Bently and Waylon Sarasnick, Millie and Carson Marburger, Jacob Santek, Jordon and Isabella Sarasnick. Also surviving is one brother, Edward Sikora of Brownsville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that he loved dearly.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, wife, daughter and grandson, are a sister, Bernetta (Frank) Ziemba and two brothers, Frank Sikora, and Paul Sikora who died in infancy.

Ted was a faithful, and the oldest, member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church. He belonged to the Polish Club, Pulaski Club and the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.

In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing softball, boating and hunting.

He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed watching sports, especially Steeler football, Pirates baseball and the Penguins hockey. His passion was going to the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center, where he enjoyed doing Zumba and water Zumba among other things.

Ted was passionate about life. He loved people and talking to anyone and everyone knowing no strangers. Ted was loved by everyone who knew him.

The family would like to thank the angels from Concordia Hospice of Washington, especially Becky, Andrea and Jess for their compassion and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Holy Trinity PNCC, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, or Concordia Hospice of Washington, 10 Leet Street, Washington.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner / Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director, Park N. Crosier, Director.

A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, with Father Mark Swoger as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church Cemetery Washington. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 and the United States Army.
