Merry Lou McMurray died peacefully Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Discovery Village in Stuart, Fla. She was raised in Avella, but lived most of her life in Washington until she moved to Florida November of 2020 to be near her twin after the passing of her beloved husband of 64 years, Gordon.

Merry Lou was predeceased by her sisters, Lois Blackhurst, Willie Kay Wolf and her identical twin, Marla West.

She is survived by her oldest sister, Shirley Vallina; and her three children, Vanessa Riley (Orrin), Greg McMurray and Blake McMurray. She was grandmother to three, Kate Riley, Anna Riley and Corey McMurray; and many neices and nephews.

Merry Lou skiied in her 70’s and biked 10 miles a day well into her 80’s. She volunteered for many years for Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. She had an interest in all things spiritual and was always reading books. She loved to sew, upholster and refinish furniture and we all have at least one thing she worked on. She also loved to bake and you could always find a pound of peanut butter fudge in the refrigerator.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 10, at Washington Cemetery in Washington.
