Bernard Edward Stanek 83, left his earthly body to be reunited with his loving wife Gloria on Monday, August 28, 2023. He passed at his home in Windsor, Colorado embraced by his family.

Bernie will always be known for his selfless commitment to his wife of nearly 64 years. He valiantly carried out his vows to her, “Til death do we part” by caring for her day in and out for nearly 20 years.

He was born in Bentleyville, Pa., on October 30, 1939 a son of the late Frank and Josephine Stanek and was the third youngest of four children.

Bernie was enrolled in Catholic elementary school and served as an altar boy for Saint Clement Catholic church. He enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 19 years old where he served four years. While stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, he met and married Frances “Gloria” Valdez.

Bernie excelled at math, mechanics and industrial arts finding his passion in manufacturing. He loved to create intricate parts for machining sometimes even building the machine itself. He eventually retired as an engineer.

Bernie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially golf.

He had a very close bond with his brothers and sister, rarely missing a daily phone call. He loved to share stories of their childhood adventures. He was always a favorite of his neighbors because of his generosity and the support that he always provided if someone was in need. He loved his granddaughters and was very proud of them.

Bernie is survived by his daughter, Kitty (Stephen) McElroy; son, Bernard Stanek Jr.; and granddaughters, Stephanie and Mallery McElroy; brothers, Frank (Milli) Stanek, Greg Stanek; and his sister, Joan Novakovich. Also survived, are numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Stanek, and parents, Frank and Josephine Stanek.

There are no words to express the gratitude that we have for our father. The sacrifice and commitment that he gave to our mother is immeasurable.

To honor the wishes of our parents, there will be no funeral service. A private burial service will be held for both Bernie and Gloria where they will be together at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
