Elizabeth Jean Block
Elizabeth “Bonnie” Jean Block, 81, of Mount Morris, died Monday, October 2, 2023, in Mon General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
She was born November 15, 1941, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Bion and Ruth Apel Bohntinsky.
Bonnie graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in Lawrenceville, at the age of 16.
She owned several newsstands. Her greatest passion was hardcover books. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and was active in the Etna Neighborhood Association.
Surviving, is a brother, John (Cathy) Bohntinsky, of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Heidi (Tom) Sawyer, of Port Orange, Fla.; a long-time companion, Bill Bortz; and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Paul Block; brother, Allan Bohntinsky; and sister, Khadijah Ghouma.
Friends and family will gather for a Celebration of Life, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with a service at 1 p.m.
