Robert “Bob” Jay Irey, 61, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born May 12, 1962, in New Eagle, a son of the late Frank L. Irey, Jr., and Faye L. Henderson Irey, who survives and resides in Monongahela.

Bob resided in Clarksville with his wife, Jodi Irey.

He is survived by his son, Frank Irey and wife, Brittany and their daughter, Linda Faye; his daughters, Victoria and Alexandra; his brother, William Irey and wife Candy and their children, Jimmy, Glen, Barbara Faye and Chad; his sister, Melanie Sandrock and husband Brad and their sons, Brent and Ben; Yorkshire Terriers, Cupcake and Maximillion; cats, Kit-Kat and Annie; mother and father-in-law, Samuel and Linda Wade, their sons, Kerry and Brad Wade, and their children, Karianne, Morgan, Sam, Elizabeth and Emily.

Bob was a 1980 graduate of Ringgold High School, where he sang with the Campus Life Singers. He was a 1985 graduate of West Virginia University, graduating with a degree in mining engineering.

Later, he was involved in Shekinah Ranch, was an elder at Monongahela First Christian Church, the chief executive of CLI in Southpointe, and served as trustee at California University of Pennsylvania.

Bob worked construction for Frank Irey Jr., Inc., heading various work projects, nationally and internationally, in China, India and the Middle East. In later years, he was a private energy consultant for several companies, including Keytex Energy.

He won the People’s Choice Award at Monongahela’s Dancing with Our Stars. He could drive or operate just about anything – from a unicycle to a backhoe. He was a singer and dancer, who had recently taken up learning the bass guitar, was a die-hard Steelers fan, loved to golf, especially with his son, and enjoyed travel all over the world, with a favorite vacation spot being Miami.

Bob helped everyone, and was everyone’s go-to for assistance (a fix-it man who could do anything around any house or business). He loved his country, a quality glass of Scotch, and a fine cigar. He also loved every sweet, often saying, “Life’s short; eat dessert first!” Bob was everybody’s cheerleader and documented lives and achievements for everyone else, with video and pictures, usually narrated by him. He spent every day giving to others, especially his wife, for whom he made lunch every day (usually with a heartfelt note inside).

Bob forgave others, always, believed family was the most important thing, and when asked, “How are you?” would always reply, “I’m fantastic!” no matter the circumstances. He believed we should always leave things and people better than we found them. He is loved and will be missed by many!

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 16, in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, with the Rev. Dr. Gerald Demarest officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
