Betty Sopiak, 79, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, October 14, 2023.

She was born January 14, 1944, in Washington, a daughter of George and Martha Simms Clark.

Mrs. Sopiak was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, in Canonsburg.

On June 1, 1968, she married her loving husband, John Sopiak, with whom she shared over 52 years of marriage, who died January 4, 2021.

She and her husband were members of the Jaguar Club of Pittsburgh and of North America.

Surviving are her sons, John (Nanette) Sopiak of Canonsburg, Gregory (Linda) Sopiak of Eighty-Four; her daughters, Sandy Castelli of Canonsburg, Hilary (Larry) Gunn of Maryland, Tammy (Richard) Bailey of Ohio, Sheila (Brian) Podobnik of Canonsburg, Jennifer Sopiak of Canonsburg; brother, Fred (Evelyn) Clark of Claysville; sisters, Alice Trefnoff of Houston, Ruth (Roberto) Serra of Ohio, and Kay Clark of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Stacey (Michael) Bonus, John (Arianna) Sopiak, Jason (Misty) Sopiak, Jacquelyn (Michael) Khanolaar, Kacie Hollenbach, Chelsie Bedillion, Kristyn (Al) Dean, Gregory (Leigha) Sopiak, Kate (Katie) Sopiak, Justin Gunn, Zachary Bailey, Rachael Bailey, Brian (Allison) Podobnik, and Steven (Alaina) Podobnik; along with 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Glenn, George and Floyd Clark; her sisters, Ettie Breese, Wanda Boyle and Alma Hancher; and her grandson, Chad McIntosh.

Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, in Sollon Funeral and Cremation Services, LTD, 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, Phillip L. Sollon, supervisor, 724-746-1000.

Panachida service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, in the funeral home, followed by divine liturgy at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Byzantine Church.

Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, in Betty Sopiak’s name.
