Joan Garland
Joan Garland, 86, of Amity, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 14, 2023, in Washington Hospital.
Born August 30, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Josephine and Carl Menderino.
Joan was a loving sister to Rose, Beatrice and Carl Menderino, Gloria (Bob) Backstrom, Grace (Jim) Mangus and brother-in-law, Bernie Reday.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Yolanda Reday.
Joan spent the last 65 years as a proud wife to Donald Garland, building a beautiful life together. They had two sons, David (Bonnie) Garland, and Dan (Sandy) Garland. Together they have five grandchildren, Shea (Nick) Horschler, Chelsea (Mark) Davis, Kaitlyn, Danny and Nichole Garland; and five great-grandchildren.
Joan is described by her family as someone who saw the good in everything. She spent the last 40 years running Garland’s Greenhouse with Donald, where they treated all their customers like family.
She was a lifetime member of The Arms Club, enjoyed playing bingo, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, rooting for the Steelers, and cooking, taking great pride in her infamous nut roll. There wasn’t much Joan didn’t like.
She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
All services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.
