Ritamae C. Slater
Ritamae C. “Rita” Slater, 84, of Valley View, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, from a short illness.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Theodore G. Slater, Jr.; her daughter, Kristine Slater, also of Valley View; and her sister, Rosemary Gregor of Eighty Four.
Rita was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania and was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Raymond Crahen and Beatrice Rogan Crahen; and her brothers, Francis J. Crahen and Raymond R. Crahen.
She was an avid horsewoman in her youth. She was a trick rider, a barrel racer and enjoyed the summers spent traveling with the horses. She was a member of the Western PA Girls Barrel Racing Association, and also a member of the WPRA. She also enjoyed leisure trips and vacationing with her sister as well as other friends.
Rita was a true lady in every sense of the word. To say that heaven gained a special angel is an understatement.
The funeral service is to be held Thursday, October 19, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray. Services are private at the request of the family.
