Walter J. Furmanek
Walter J. Furmanek, 83, of Washington, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in UPMC Montefiore.
He was born July 30, 1940, in Washington, a son of Walter Frank and Lucille Milavic Furmanek.
Mr. Furmanek was a 1958 graduate of Trinity High School.
He had worked at the Canonsburg Feed Mill, as a truck driver, until his retirement.
Mr. Furmanek was a veteran, having served in the Army.
He attended Gospel Way Church in Canonsburg.
Mr. Furmanek enjoyed gardening, cutting grass, and loved to be outside.
On August 13, 1960, he married Bertha Joan Harbaugh, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Walter J. Furmanek II (Becky) of West Finley, Jessica R Stout (John) of Scenery Hill and Jason Furmanek of Meadow Lands; two grandchildren, Amber and Anthony Furmanek; two brothers, Gail Furmanek (Vicky) of Claysville and Dennis Furmanek (Carol) of East Finley; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lola.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner / supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made in Walter’s name to the funeral home.
