Elizabeth Matthews Summers

Elizabeth Matthews Summers, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Thomas and Edith Matthews and was born in Waynesburg, on January 15, 1930.

Besides her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George L. Summers, who passed away in March of 2013, and four siblings.

Elizabeth’s legacy lives on with her loving daughter, Troy Kucera and husband, Michael; three grandsons, Zachary and wife, Ashley, William Maxwell and Nathaniel; and precious great-granddaughter expected in November of 2023; several nieces and nephews; and three God-children Mark, JoAnn, and Kay.

In her life, Elizabeth was a member of several organizations, most actively in the Dyer Country Club, Irondale United Methodist Church as a parishioner, and a daughter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Always an advocate for education, Elizabeth served on the Edison Local School Board during the 1970s.

As a career, she owned and operated Summers Ceramics where she hosted and taught weekly classes.

She was an avid golfer and loved watching football, baseball, golf, but most of all attending her grandsons’ sporting events.

Elizabeth will be dearly missed in the days to come.

Visitation will be held at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023. Celebration of Elizabeth’s life will take place at Mayfield United Methodist Church located at 7747 Mayfield Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Chester Township.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Irondale United Methodist Church, 75 Grant Street, Irondale, Ohio 43932.
