Government for the Congress

1 min read

As an electronic edition reader and former Washington resident, I would like to pass along thoughts concerning our Congress and their open disregard for their constituents.

President Abraham Lincoln, in his Gettysburg Address, said that “government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

However, it would seem today that those words have been changed to read, “Government of the Congress, by the Congress and for the Congress shall not perish from the earth.”

They apparently have no constituents. So long as their personal concerns are met, i.e., re-election, they have no regard for anything directed toward them. Elections were meant to correct these problems but never seem to accomplishment anything.
