Where are lines on the road?

2 min read

After over a year, PennDOT finally completed the overpass, road and cloverleaf at Route 519 and Route 19 in North Strabane Township.

Let me say “almost” completed.

I’ve heard many people complain about PennDOT failing to repaint the lines that divide northbound Route 19 from the turn lane to get onto Route 519. You see, PennDOT failed to paint those lines after their equipment during construction “erased” those lines. Coming off Route 19 heading north, the turn lane looks wide enough to be a two-lane road all around the curve. If you are not familiar with the area, keeping to the right will eventually land you off the road.

Fearing the worst, I called PennDOT last autumn and was told it was then too cold for a crew to paint lines that would last. Contacting state Rep. Brandon Neuman’s office, they went to work and were told by PennDOT the line painting would be completed in the spring.

Well, it’s now the beginning of August and soon another autumn will be upon us. Will PennDOT be concerned enough for the lives of drivers to paint the lines that they removed through their project so someone doesn’t have to play a guessing game as to just where the road is?
