A communications breakdown
PennDOT’s repaving of North Main Street last year in Washington needs some fine-tuning before there are accidents at two intersections.
Main going south at Chestnut Street and Main going north at Walnut Street have left-turn lanes which are painted as they were before the repaving. However, turn arrows are no longer painted inside the lanes, as they were in the past. Some drivers appear to be unaware of the turn lanes and barrel straight ahead, triggering horn blasts and middle-finger salutes.
A telephone call to PennDOT June 4 informed me that it was the responsibility of the city to paint the turn arrows inside the lanes. I relayed that information to a city official, who said that information would be relayed to the proper department.
Two months later, it looks like we have a breakdown in communications between a city official and the proper department.
