Thanks to Doug Shanaberger

1 min read

I am writing to publicly thank Doug Shanaberger for nearly 30 years of writing about theater, film and the performing arts throughout Washington County.

In addition to covering the arts in Allegheny County, his chief focus was always concerned with the positive advancement of live theater by highlighting many Washington County artists, directors, actors and theatrical organizations through his reviews and weekly column in the Observer-Reporter.

I am certain I speak for everyone when I say that Doug has championed all theatrical organizations throughout Washington County. Where would any of us have been without his calling attention on a weekly basis to the endeavors and productions of Washington Community Theater, Little Lake Theater, Off the Wall, the Old Schoolhouse Players, Jude Pohl Productions plus many local college and high school productions?

His keen mind, literacy, quick wit, knowledge and especially his passion for the live theater were always evident in his writings. Our successes were always due, in part, to the attention, support and encouragement he shared with all of us over the past thirty years.

We will miss him but wish him well in all his future personal and professional endeavors. Break a leg, Doug!
