Enforce the leash laws

1 min read

I have a suggestion for all boroughs and municipalities: Enforce the leash laws, and your coffers will fill.

My greyhound was attacked by a loose dog Feb. 27 while I was walking her on a leash. This occurred only a half-block from my house. As I tried to get the offending dog off of her – it had her pinned to the ground – she slipped out of her harness and ran off. My wife and I are distraught that we have been unable to find her, especially with all the cold and snow over the past several days. She is a house dog and has never had to fend for herself.

While we and some friends have been searching for the dog, we have witnessed countless dogs off leash. If each owner was fined, not only would law-abiding dog owners and their dogs be safer, the boroughs and municipalities would garner a great deal of easy revenue. I would propose to town councils to seriously consider a crackdown on these violators who menace our neighborhoods .
