I have been asked by the board of directors of the recently incorporated Washington County Gay Straight Alliance, Inc. (WCGSA) to invite Washington City Councilman Matt Staniszewski to an event we are planning on June 1.

Regardless of his intentions with a comment during his testing the user rider alert system, we would like to enlighten Staniszewski about many of his friends, neighbors, and voters in this community. Certain attitudes prevail in Washington County that the WCGSA was formed to address. We are working to educate the community by dispelling common misconceptions about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) human beings. We are inviting Staniszewski, as our guest to hear the Pittsburgh Renaissance City Choirs perform “Cabaret: So You Think You’re a Diva?” right here in Washington County on June 1. We feel that this will offer Staniszewski an excellent opportunity, as a leader in our community, to meet and understand the LGBT community and their allies.
