Washington needs a city manager

1 min read

In response to the April 28 letter from Albert Perts, “Washington is a mess,” Washington is a mess, indeed. However, its decline started when Washington Mall was built. Now, it too has declined and is mostly empty. Why? Free parking did not save it.

We need a city manager who will actively pursue new businesses to locate in the city. In return, they will clean up the storefronts and sidewalks. Years ago, we had better public transportation and people used to walk from store to store – yes, up all those hills.

The same people who complain about walking uptown are the same ones who drive to the malls or the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center and park their cars to go inside and walk.

We need Washington City Council to work together for the city to move forward.
