Farmers’ Market returns
The Main Street Farmers’ Market kicks off its 10th season in downtown Washington next Thursday. Though fresh produce is limited at this time of year, there’s still plenty to buy (we’ll be looking for that tender young lettuce) and plenty of what the market is best known for – the feeling of community.
For the past nine years, Thursday afternoons on South Main Street have been a recurring festival, a gathering of friends and neighbors under open sky, charcoal smoke and the aroma of roasting meats wafting in the breeze, a cacophony of live music, popping corn, laughter and conversation.
The market runs from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and parking downtown is free during those hours. Stop by for the fun of it and to support your local farmers.
