No Jefferson-Morgan tax increase
The school board in the Jefferson-Morgan School District announced that it is planning to raise taxes again, after a tax increase last year for renovations to the middle school. They seem confident that once everything is explained, the tax payers will gladly accept another tax increase.
Well, I am not one of the taxpayers willing to accept another tax increase and I am quite sure there are many more in the district who are not either. Let’s put this issue to a vote and let the people decide if they want it, not the school board.
And while we are voting, why not let the people vote on consolidating the school districts of Jefferson-Morgan, Carmichaels and Mapletown. When the three districts combined graduated fewer than 160 students last year, it’s obvious it’s time to do something. The property owners of these three districts deserve a say in this matter.
