Give credit when credit is deserved

I’m elated about positive developments in Greene County’s Perry Township.

An ordinance has been enacted that prevents parking on Route 19 between Locust Avenue and Main Street in Mt. Morris. The Mt. Morris Fire Department volunteers were inhibited by cars parked across the street from departing expeditiously when responding to fires or accidents.

In addition, I hope parking on sidewalks will be eliminated so the mobility of disabled citizens who need wheelchairs, walkers and scooters will not be impeded.

Another area where there has been improvement is the cleaning of ditches with an excavator that eliminates the need to scrape the contents of the ditches onto the road.

I believe the township’s new supervisors are still in the learning phase and have some good ideas, but I would caution them that they cannot please everyone and that one of their priorities should be treating all citizens equally and striving to eliminate favoritism.

Challenging officials of the community is a right of taxpayers, but that respect should be reciprocated, which at times has been lacking.
