Unkept promises on tax reform
The column on property tax reform by G. Terry Madonna and Michael L. Young that appeared in the Sunday, Nov. 10 edition was kind of dumb. Did these two just move into the state?
We were promised that the school tax would be replaced with gambling money if we allowed slot machines. Didn’t happen. Then the same promises were made if we allowed table games. Fooled again!
Now, if we sell the state wine and liquor stores, it would do away with the school tax. How many times do these politicians think they can get away with the same bull?
Do what was promised and the other taxes won’t have to be raised to replace the school tax. They took care of all their wealthy friends first. We get the leftovers.
