A slap in the face

1 min read

As a World War II veteran, I was honored when asked to march in Washington’s Veterans Day parade. It would have been a great parade except for one politician.

I thought the parade was to honor all veterans. I found out that I was wrong, as one politician apparently thought it was a Christmas or Halloween parade. When the parade started, we would march 20 or 30 yards and have to stop and wait while this one politician was in front of the parade passing out candy. This continued during the whole parade.

Shame on you Washington for allowing this to happen. To me, and all the veterans I have talked to, it was a slap in the face.
