Time for Steeler housecleaning

2 min read

As a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for the past 40 years, I have been silent too long.

Problems started last year and this year has been no better. We have some excellent team members, some new and inexperienced, but good quality players. The heart of the matter, though, is the coaching. Let us get rid of Todd Haley, the Steelers’ offensive coordinator, and give Big Ben the ability to call the plays. The special teams coordinator, Danny Smith, needs to be removed and Mike Tomlin is a quick-talking-and -saying-nothing coach. Our defensive coordinator, Dick LeBeau, while a great coach in his day, is past his prime.

It is time for the Rooney family to get their heads out of the clouds and look at the big picture. We need to do some housecleaning. This year is done unless something miraculous happens and I am not talking about the historic Franco Harris “Immaculate Reception.” This team is in disarray, we have the ability to make it work and Steeler Nation, while expecting more, would be grateful for a decent season.

I will always be a Steelers fan but at this point in the season my heart is heavy and my blood pressure is out of sight. Let’s get this thing fixed for everyone around the world who loves the Steelers. I know in the grand scheme of things this is just a football game, but we need something in our lives right now to make us feel optimistic and look forward to the future.
