Speed limit being ignored
The speed limit on Interstates 70 and 79 near Washington is 55 mph, and for good reason. Particularly at the junctions, where entrance and exit ramps were constructed with the low traffic volume of 50 years ago in mind, excessive speed has caused many to lose their lives. Yet, no one observes the limit.
Driving at 65 mph may not keep you up with traffic, which is heavier than it’s ever been. You’re likely to be passed by trucks going 75 mph carrying oversized loads. Improvement to the ramps are being made and are planned, but in the meantime, is it too much to ask that the speed limit near the junctions be enforced?
