Happy with “Rocco’s Law” approval
As a person who loves dogs and has owned many, I am happy to see the Legislature has approved “Rocco’s Law,” which is designed to protect dogs in the K-9 division of the state’s police departments.
These dogs put their lives on the line every day and in most cases are an asset to the force. But what about the ones that bite innocent bystanders? What happens in these cases? I believe those dogs should be retired. They are a liability.
My brother-in-law was an officer with the Pennsylvania State Police and was shot in the line of duty and nearly died. There’s nothing worse than receiving a phone call at 2 a.m. and being told someone you love has been shot. Maybe if he’d had a K-9 partner, this could have been avoided.
