Community interest in pavilion appreciated
I’m writing in response to Clair Cannon’s March 2 letter supporting the Main Street Farmers Market pavilion project, which will raise an attractive permanent roof over the parking lots at Main and Wheeling streets. The pavilion will provide shelter for the market and other events downtown, and covered parking at other times.
Cannon expressed her concern that updates on pavilion fundraising are not available. First, I’d like to note that the market’s “Let’s Raise the Roof” campaign has been successful so far – the market has raised over $375,000 of the needed funds through grants and donations. To make contributing as convenient as possible, the market has also established a building fund with the Washington County Community Foundation.
We appreciate the community’s interest in the market and our pavilion project, and we certainly thank everyone who has contributed to our capital campaign so far. The best way to stay informed about our fundraising progress is to visit the market website (www.msfm.org) to sign up for our weekly newsletter, which provides news about the market including updates on the pavilion.
