Solutions went unmentioned

2 min read

No matter what Officer Darren Wilson said, the opinion of family of slain Ferguson, Mo. teenager Michael Brown would remain the same – Wilson murdered their son.

They remain blind to the evidence presented, and locked into the falsehoods heard immediately after their son was shot. His family has not considered whether Brown was at fault, first by the visible evidence that he committed a crime, and second that he assaulted Wilson.

No, they have refused to let go of the erroneous reports, which were hardened as the plane carrying Al Sharpton touched down in nearby St. Louis. Sharpton would feed them the toxic elixir he brings with him and has dispersed in New York, Durham, N.C. and any other city where hardships make people vulnerable.

The worst part is, the problems which are damaging every poor urban area will remain. They were there before we knew the names of Brown and Wilson.

If so-called black leaders continue to use the failed tactics of the 1960s in the 21st century, then expecting problems to be solved is foolhardy. Solutions are in front of us: better upbringing; better public education; and a sense of hope built on a bedrock of belief in our nation, none of which Sharpton or even President Obama mentioned.
