Agencies need to do their jobs
Recently, letters have been printed in the Observer-Reporter from readers who have complained about being asked “personal” questions when trying to adopt cats or kittens from area agencies.
Sorry if these people feel they were inconvenienced, but considering all the cats that need good homes, that is the job of these agencies. And the fees cover shots and, usually, the cost of fixing the cats. If I had to answer a few questions in order to get a cat, I would. I would give blood and have my fingerprints screened if necessary to ensure these pets have a loving home.
There are too many unwanted animals. That is where being responsible comes in, and having the animals fixed or not letting them out to roam. If someone feels offended answering a few questions that they consider too personal or irrelevant, they might not be a good candidate anyway.
Do not blame the agencies. Blame the people that constantly let the animals breed and try to dispose of them.
