Fixing a ‘large’ hole
The lovely community of West Finley Township is being held hostage because of a large hole on Old Brick Road.
The wonderful people at PennDOT thought it would be a good idea to dig a big hole, close a main road to the interstate and do nothing. They do have lots of excuses. No manpower, the job is bigger than anticipated, waiting for parts, still no manpower and, finally, they found tadpoles.
Tadpoles. Really?
Meanwhile, the residents and businesses in our area are hard hit by this inconvenience. A bus can’t get down the road, leaving families scrambling to get their kids to school. Businesses are losing customers, and residents now have a 35-minute commute to the interstate instead of a five-minute commute. Try getting a propane delivery or a repair person to come out. The post office, gas station, convenience store and ambulance company are on the other side of the big hole.
We all understand road construction is a fact of life. But where is the accountability? What recourse do we have when a job that should take a couple of weeks takes over three months? It should not be too much to ask that projects are completed in a timely manner, especially when you factor in the incredible burden placed upon us citizens. We are trying to get to work, to pay our taxes so that PennDOT has the funds to dig big holes.
