Appalled by alleged forgery

1 min read

As a retired police officer and chief of police, I am appalled that a police officer would allegedly forge a complaint and affidavit to have a person committed to the county jail, as outlined in a March 12 story in the Observer-Reporter. District Judge Ethan Ward stated that having officers charging people and forging a complaint and affidavit is unacceptable. Not only is it unacceptable, it is criminal, and if this is true, the unnamed officer who allegedly did this should be charged.

District Attorney Gene Vittone stated he did not know the name of the officer or the police department where the officer is employed. Why was this information not given to the Vittone?
