Give controllers their union back
Fatigue inherent in the work performed by the nation’s air-traffic controllers is receiving a great deal of media attention. That issue, however, is actually a longstanding problem.
Thirty-four years ago, the air-traffic controllers union, the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO), was negotiating for improved benefits, including provisions that would deal with the issue of controller fatigue. Back then, newly-elected President Ronald Reagan fired the striking union controllers and hired nonunion replacements.
It is obvious that big government has failed to promote the general welfare of air-traffic controllers. The remedy? Give them their union back.
The multiple Republican administrations since Herbert Hoover have come darn close, yet have failed to bury the Republican Party. From what I have heard and seen, Donald Trump is very highly qualified to do just that. That is the reason why I am planning to write in Trump for president on my Democratic ballot.
