Mine would disrupt park
Since Mingo Creek County Park is one of the larger parks in Washington County, it is very important to keep this area safe and peaceful. However, if the Ramaco mining company opens a mine near the park in Nottingham and Peters townships, it would increase truck traffic on Little Mingo and Ginger Hill roads, which both go through the park.
Not only would these trucks eliminate the quiet atmosphere valued by many, but it would also dramatically reduce the safety of those using the park. Pedestrians would face difficulty navigating the park during peak truck traffic hours, which would also eliminate the recreational value of Mingo Creek County Park.
It’s absolutely vital that the Department of Environmental Protection deny the Ramaco deep-mine application in order to maintain the recreational, peaceful atmosphere experienced by many in Mingo Creek County Park.
